Facebook’s renewed attention on a privacy-focused social network meant a redesign was inevitable. But, this new redesign is more than just a new website or app. The new design seeks to give people spaces where they can express themselves freely and feel connected to the people and communities that matter most, according to the company.
As part of this update, Facebook is making it easier for users to go between public spaces and more private ones on the platform, like Groups.
Here are the biggest changes you’ll see very soon as the new design begins to roll out. The new design for iOS and Android will begin rolling out immediately and the desktop redesign will be arriving in the next few months.

Groups
Groups has quickly become one of the core reasons users return to the app or site daily. More than 400 million people on Facebook belong to a group. The new redesign introduces tools that will make it easier for you to engage or discover groups that may interest you.
A redesigned Groups tab makes it easier to discover new groups. It will also display a personalized feed of your activity across all of your groups. The new design also makes it easier to share content to your groups.
Facebook is also introducing group-specific new features. For example, a Health Support group will allow members to post questions and share information without their name appearing on the post. Job groups will make it simpler to post job openings with new templates and easier ways to message employers. Facebook is also exploring ways to let buyers ask questions and place orders during live broadcast in Buy and Sell groups.
Dating
Facebook introduced a new dating feature in September of 2018. With the redesign, Facebook is expanding upon this feature. They announced a new feature called Secret Crush.
If you choose to use the new feature, you can select up to nine of your Facebook friends who you want to express interest in. If this person has opted into the Facebook Dating feature they will receive a notification saying that someone has a crush on them. If your crush adds you to their list as well then Facebook will consider it a match! Doesn’t this sound familiar? If they haven’t opted in or they don’t add you, no one will know the names you entered.

Meet New Friends
Another feature that will be included is a Meet New Friends feature. This feature will make it easier for people in shared communities like a school, city, or workplace to start friendships.
Soon, this feature will connect with groups, making it simpler for those with shared interests to connect as well.
Shipping on Marketplace
People will soon be able to ship items bought on Marketplace anywhere in the Continental United States. You’ll be able to pay for your purchases right within the Facebook app. This means sellers will be able to reach more buyers and buyers will have more items available to browse and buy.
Events
This Summer Facebook will be introducing the Events tab that will allow you to see what’s happening around you, get recommendations, discover local businesses, and more.
